From the Office of the Chief of Police:
WILLIAM L. GAGLIARDI
CHIEF OF POLICE
MESSAGE TO THE COMMUNITY
The New Britain Police Department is a full service police department that operates under the Community
Policing philosophy. What this means for our citizens is that each one of us has an important role in making
our city safe, making it a good place to work, to live, and to raise a family.
Simply calling the police about
a crime or even about graffiti painted on a wall or stop sign is the first step to taking control of our environment.
These quality of life issues can be effectively addressed in a reasonable amount of time, once we know about it.
Volunteering time
to our community is another worthwhile way of making our city all that we want it to be. Citizens can join
many volunteer groups such as your local Block Watch, attend a Neighborhood Revitalization Zone meeting held in your area,
work with children in our Police Athletic League (PAL) or our Explorer Program, or donate time as a Substation volunteer,
or join us as a Community Service Officer, or join the PTO, or just give time to help others through the many service programs
listed in our local papers weekly. If you are at least 21 years of age and have at least a G.E.D. and you
want to serve the public you may be eligible to become a full time Police Officer.
As you continue looking through
our website you will get a better idea of our services to the community and just how you can join us in making New Britain
all we want it to be.
Thank you for your interest.
