Animal Control Unit

Animal Control Services are available (7) seven days per week and on an emergency basis after hours.

Ofc. James Russo is the Animal Control Officer.

The regular hours of service are;
Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
The dog pound is located at 642 Christian Lane and the Animal Control Officer can be called there for routine matters at (860) 223-5021.
The police department can dispatch the Animal Control Officer and services can be requested for routine matters by dialing (860) 826-3000. To contact the Animal Control Officer click here.

For emergency service only dial 911. A patrol officer will be dispatched on a priority basis with the other calls for service. Please do not call after hours for routine matters as this detracts from the officers patrolling your neighborhoods and businesses for crime.

One part of Animal Control is arranging for adoptions of unclaimed animals. When an animal's owner does not come forward and cannot be located, the animal is cared for and evaluated to determine if it is eligible for adoption to a suitable home.  Please visit our Facebook page or click the link below to check the list of animals are available for adoption.
