WPLR morning radio personalities "Chaz and AJ" will be on hand for "Stand Up for Brett," on Feb. 21st to benefit the fund set up for Officer Brett Morgan. Morgan was seriously injured while investigating a report of a stolen vehicle on Jan. 19th. Morgan underwent nine hours of surgery after the incident as well as a second surgery the following day.
The benefit in Morgan's honor comes after Police Chief James Wardwell, who is an avid listener of the station, sent an email to the radio personalities, af...ter they offered their support for the officer on air.
The benefit is a stand-up comedy show that will feature headline comedians Dave Reilly and Gary Petinella, hosted by Joey Mitchell, often called "the king of the punch liners." Chief Wardwell and Mayor Erin Stewart will also speak at the event.
Morgan is now undergoing an intensive rehabilitation regimen and will likely face several more surgeries as he recovers. All the proceeds will go to the Brett Morgan Benefit Fund, which was created by the police department after members of the community began asking how they could help the injured officer. Money from the fund is helping to defray some of the costs associated with his hospitalization and rehabilitation.
Tickets are $15 (plus a service charge) and are available on the WPLR website at www.wplr.com or www.959thefox.com
