|TRIAD Programs Description|
The Fan Club program begins in the Spring of each year. We ask for donations of new fans for free distribution to New Britain Seniors in need of a fan during the hot summer months. New fans can be dropped off at the New Britain Senior Center, 55 Pearl Street, New Britain Monday thru Friday from 9:00am-4:00pm.
The Senior Prom is held in April of each year at the New Britain High School Cafeteria. Seniors and city youth enjoy a sit down dinner, dancing, video buttons, free give-aways and the crowning of a King and Queen. Volunteer youth from the New Britain Park and Recreation Department After School Program, EC Goodwin Tech School and the Boys’ and Girls Club serve the dinners to the senior guests. The Prom is video taped by Nutmeg TV each year and copies of the prom video are available for sale from Nutmeg TV. Prom tickets are available only at the New Britain Senior Center, 55 Pearl Street, New Britain during normal business hours. Tickets are collected at the door. No tickets are sold at the door.
TRIAD Breakfast is always a big success. The breakfast is the only fund raiser run by TRIAD and is held in March of each year at the New Britain Senior Center. The cost for your breakfast is very inexpensive and a great deal. TRIAD Volunteers prepare all of the delicious food. It’s not just a breakfast! We hold a jelly bean count contest, coloring contest for kids and a bake sale. Music is provided by Steve Callassis. Beautiful tasty home made lollipops are donated by Klingberg Family children. Tickets are available at the door.
TRIAD Ice Cream Social is held each summer at Arbor Rose/Jerome Home. The ice cream sunday fixings are donated by Hospital for Special Care and Arbor Rose. Youth from the Boys’ and Girls Club and summer camper kids from New Britain Housing Authority entertain the senior’s while enjoying an ice cream sunday. Reservations are required. The program is advertised thru local media and is free of charge.
TRIAD Safe Walk is held every summer at Stanley Quarter Park. The walk is open to the public. The walkers meet at the park and are joined by campers from the New Britain Park and Recreation Department. Seniors can walk with the youth or play board games followed by snacks and juice drinks.
TRIAD EXPO is held in October of each year at the Hospital for Special Care Research Center (old MIA High School) 370 Osgood Avenue New Britain, CT. This event is free and open to the public. A free sit down lunch for attendee’s is served at noon time. Attendees receive a free copy of the TRIAD Resource Guide, a ticket for luncheon and a chance to win free gifts provided by various vendors.
Guest speakers are introduced during lunch. The topics vary each year. Approximately 70-90 Vendors sign up each year for a small fee. The event is video taped by Nutmeg TV. Any vendor interested in registering should call Officer Carol Zesut at (860) 826-3081 no later than September.
TRIAD Resource Guide is updated each year. They are free of charge and available at the Fall Expo, the Senior Center or by calling Officer Carol Zesut (860) 826-3081.
TRIAD Scholarship Each year we select a City of New Britain Senior from local high schools who are going on to college. For this $500.00 scholarship see your Guidance Department for application.
Home Safe Home, Scam and Safety programs are free of charge. For more information call Officer Carol Zesut (860) 826-3081 to set up a meeting with your church, club or civic organization. Speakers are available all year round.
Food Drives are held to support various local food pantries.
